Established in 1982 by area churches, The Guest House was a drop-in center. From those humble beginnings, a sophisticated program of housing, education, substance abuse treatment and pre-employment preparation was created. The Guest House currently provides shelter for 86 adult men per evening. It is the largest publicly funded emergency shelter in Milwaukee. The Guest House of Milwaukee, Inc. is a nonprofit organization. The Guest House is a proud member of United Way of Greater Milwaukee. United Way raises funds through workplace-giving campaigns to support local charities.
